Els homes i els dies

Teatre Nacional de Catalunya – Barcelona

22 years concentrated in a diary. David Vilaseca documented his daily life on paper from 1987, when he was 23 years old and a young student on an American campus, until 2009, when he was 46 and shortly before his death. Now, Xavier Albertí directs the theatrical adaptation of this groundbreaking novel that turns the self, fears, sex, and other personal experiences into high-level literature.

After a romantic disappointment, Vilaseca takes refuge in a spiral of sporadic and anonymous sex, nightclub nights, and drugs. A particular «descent into hell» of dark environments marked by promiscuity. A forward escape that is nothing more than the search and the difficult construction of individual identity and self-acceptance. An identity shaped by homosexuality, by Catholic education (and guilt), by a turbulent family relationship, and by disillusionment with his country of origin, Catalonia, from which he feels expelled.
